    My new whip

10 tonnes of tandem axle, massive inline 6 Cummins powered truck .

three (long) days a week, plus any vacation coverage of other truckers.

leaves me 4 days to do the odd cash gig, plus time to explore in BC. No more 90 hours a WEEK burn out… and NO MORE creative accounting by a corrupt trucking company when it comes to hours and OT. I’m owed at least $9500 in unpaid wages from the last trucking company , but I’ll never recover it.

    new company is solid

I am curios how everyone keeps their "Waist pack" / "Fanny pack" from falling to low?

I have been experimenting with waist packs but i find they sag too low for comfort/ use/ don't stay in place. I have tightened the waist pack as much as i can stand but still slides down.

I tried today to feed my belt through the "loop" on the top/ back of the pack (probably just meant to just hang up the bag. ) It stayed mostly in place but makes it difficult to remove in a hurry.

I am considering maybe a clip or velcro loop or belt keeper attached to the same loop i used today.

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

I prefer a sling pack. My beer belly and lack of a butt make fanny packs very impractical.

We're in a massive kitchen remodel and I'm trying to build out the LJ as well so it's ready for trips this fall.

I feel stretched VERY thin. But we're making progress.

Removed a picture window to put a pantry in this corner.

The framing was AWFUL. They added this in what appears to be the 60s. No jack studs, partly framed with rotten wood, header was a bunch of scraps nailed together, cripples not even in contact with the header. Just awful.

I know the one stud is crooked but it was holding the edge of the filler board. The on-center stud is straight.

Yesterday we patched some bad spots in the subfloor and widened the doorway from the dining room.

They used a piece of lumber that had been completely eaten up by woodbores for part of the header.... UGH these people.

But it's nice and stout now and the wife is happy.

Hey Esee Crew , stay safe out there in the woods eh? Don’t take chances, don’t go 4 wheeling or ATV’ing tired or drunk.(thats not what happened here)

just learned of a death in my local community, long time family guy I worked with at one of the local industrial metal recycling yards. Adam was a heavy equipment operator, sorting millions of tonnes a year of scrap metal with his heavy grapple machine.

he had an ATV accident on the august long weekend , not sure on details yet , but I’ve heard a lot of chatter within the wilderness/ 4x4 community, it’s most likely a plummet over a very steep embankment incident . He was riding his quad with his sons at the time. No idea on the fatal injuries sustained . He was most likely looking back at his children on their quads and went over a cliff

let’s all be a little more careful out there. This could happen to anyone of us. :(

I might go. It's not a long drive for me and I spend quite a bit of time in that area doing other things. The last two times I decided to go l never made it. The first I stopped to check on a broken vehicle and made life long friends. The second I just decided to wander off up a mountain.

FedEx was here today in a budget truck. The back of that truck was a mess, the driver flattened someone's package when he stepped on it. I'm glad all he had for us was dog food.

I tried to buy a couple spools of bow string material today. I didn't know how difficult that was going to be. I called every archery shop I could find within 75 miles. A couple don't even do archery anymore, I couldn't even find string wax. I emailed bigjimbows 2 weeks ago he's only an hour away, but he's too short handed to answer emails.

So I bought a couple spools of 65# braided fishing line and made my own wax. Luckily, I already acquired some serving material and a serving tool.

I've got my strands cut and waxed, about to start twisting them.

Saturday afternoon I set up my propane burner on the truck tailgate outside, brought out a bunch of my bigger cast iron pots that don’t fit into the oven. Started seasoning them .

busy neighbourhood, lots of foot traffic.

lots of young people in my hood. Got lots of really confused looks from them . Only one asked what I was doing. I explained the cast iron seasoning process, they were actually really interested in what I was doing.

Other people - confused, weirded out, one couple asked why I was cooking with the pot upside down ? (Seriously????????????) . Couple older folks walked by, stopped and chatted - delighted to see old ways / old iron being used. Mostly just weird looks, whispering to each other, staring etc

weird afternoon. City life I guess.

getting to the point where I should just buy a 1 ton truck , load up all my cast iron pots/skillets/baking pans/ griddles/ Dutch ovens/Potjies etc , a 5 gallon bucket of Crisco and a 60 lb propane tank and just spend a weekend in the woods seasoning my irons.

It's hard to get in process pics because of the wax on the hands. The strings are working well, the one bow I chronographed different strings on picked up about 7fps with a inch more brace height. Normally you lose speed with increased brace height. They seem to be holding up well too, I've got a couple hundred shots on 1 so far.

It's actually the same process as making basic cordage. You start with 2 bundles of strands and twist the strands counter clockwise then rotate the bundles clockwise. You start the process about 8" from the end, twist about 3" towards the short end. Then fold the twisted section into a loop and match the loose strands back to the main bundles and start twisting towards the middle until you run out of the short strands. Clamp or tie off the twist to hold it and do the same thing on the other end. You have to straighten or even put a reverse twist in the strands before you start the other end. After you have both end loops, you just have to twist the whole string and stretch it to lock everything together. If you twist the wrong way, everything will come apart.

The jig is just to get the right length of strands to start with and make each strand slightly shorter than the last, so that they taper into the main string.
