I am thinking of the glove box, won't try it with li-ion but will leave something with NiMh, since they survived the AUS summer they will be fine here.

    I need another 4HM.
I think I'm going to try a kydex version this time.

When I was in Cali, I had a neighbor who was wanting to get into knives.
He was a tad older, outdoors focused, and a budding survivalist/prepper.

He knew his firearms, but was lacking in knife knowledge.

I asked him what he wanted to do with it?
His answer included wilderness camping, mostly off of ATVs with his sons. Fire Prep, camp cooking, and survival should the need arise. Along with a bit of EDC, mostly out of town in rural areas.

Without saying it, he basically described a one knife option.

He was old enough to not have the mall ninja mentality.
He seemed capable, just not much of a knife guy.

So, I loaned him my HM4 just to try. It was used, stripped and sharp.
I told him to keep it for a week and do stuff he thought he would do with the knife he wanted, and see how it went.

After spending a week in the Plumas National Forest with his sons.
He came back gushing like a school kid over some new rock star.

    He was a believer.
He just went on and on about how capable and handy the 4 was.

So I told him to keep it for another week and use it some more.
He said he didn't want to hurt it.
I just laughed, and said you won't.
It was like I loaned him a Porsche.

He brought it back the following week with a 12 pack of IPA as a gift.
He said, he was really going to miss the knife.
    I said, no you're not.
    He said, why not?
I said, because it's yours now, it seems like you make a good team.

It's funny how little acts of kindness can improve everybody's outlook on life.

    LV,

Definitely kydex . I wish I got the 3 and 4 HM with kydex, the leather is just not a secure carry option for me. I can't find a maker that makes decent sheaths for knives without a finger guard here so I am still stuck with the leather.

LV - you already have 3 and 6 HM, the 4 is a must have, just as the 6 HM is for me :D

Exactly. That green and brown color combo wins the internet.

It would be epic in a HM version, with the textured scales and everything.

Actually, I may grab a 4HM and dye the scales forest green.

I think the green and black would rock

What a great slicer, probably as thin as my 3 at the edge, it did a quick and clean work on some bacon and leek a moment ago. It makes paper thin slices of the leek with just push cuts. As modest as it sounds, I think I did a decent job when sharpening it :D

Removed the pouch to lighten it some, plus I think it looks better without it. Added the pin from the last HD esee I did and did a distressed HD etch. 20211026_220006.jpg 20211026_220105.jpg 20211026_220714.jpg 20211026_220727.jpg
