Also ordered a new headlamp for my buddy. He had a habit of buying the cheapest cost gear or gear off eBay or Craigslist (cuz he thinks he's getting a good deal and saving money, but ends up buying tons of poor quality garbage gear ) and then it breaks / fails in the field. (Every time we're out in woods too.....):mad::mad::mad::mad:

case in point, recent overnighter camp out. He had a $3 chinese made clip on headlamp for his cap . Lasted about 10 minutes in the cold , then the leds failed and the clip broke. No light for him all night.

I'd rather work a few extra hours overtime and buy friends long lasting high quality bleeding edge gear, than deal with cheap gear failures in the field........o_O

so I got him the same headlamp I use. The ACEBEAM H30 red/green led , with 4000 lumen 6300K led flood light. 21700 hi amperage lithium ion battery.

as well, I got him a WOODSKNIFE BIG LEUKU 180mm scandi Bushcraft knife from Varusteleka in Finland.
Same fire prep / Bushcraft knife I have . (He uses a chipped / dull machete and a cheap dull bayonet knife that doesn't cut anything)

plus a ferro rod and TinderQuik's

My roll off truck has a factory installed 1" RamMount ball on the dash (for GPS/Cellphone/Etc) .

for too long I've just propped the cell phone on the dash, but I finally got a few RamMount components to mount my cell properly (and legally - $500 fine for having a cell phone in cup holder or on dash within reach up here)

The quality and durability of this mount is very good. Can't wait to go to work tomorrow  just so I can use this :p

Finally scored an old school German canteen / cup / mess cup kit.

Heavy duty wash in hot water with dish soap / bleach, followed by Ballistol Oil application to the leather straps and moving parts.

my Eastern European MilSurp source has 6 sets of these left, very hard to find in good shape. I might just drop a couple hundred to buy the lot , so I never run out of these
