Cornus Florida. Flowering Dogwood.
Not quite wild but something you don't see everyday....
...... opium poppies.....
Growing a..."cash crop" there Andy? .
Someone here is .... we have one of the largest LEGITIMATE Opium Poppy operations in the world down here. They supply the pharmaceutical industry. I have another pic where the fields of them run off into the distance. All there by the side of a country road ! There are lots of warning signs about death and the like of course.
Venus looking glass. Apparently this will make you sick as its use. Did not know that before i took the photo!
Easily my favorite photos I've taken for this thread.
Buttercup with a golden crab spider laying wait for it's next meal.
Legend has it, that if you hold a butter cup under your chin, and your chin glows yellow, you like butter! Just look for crab spiders before picking one.
Here's some Milk Thistle I saw along the trail on a hike recently. I don't know if it's considered a flower but I think it looks pretty interesting. I know it's edible and is good for the liver.
California Poppies! The Golden Poppy is our State Flower.
.....we get lots of that down here as well !
One of these days I’ll have to harvest some and eat it. Have you ever tried?
Yes.... but it was in 1984 and I had been drinking.....I don't think my recollection is sound
One of the 5 day survival classes lived mostly on thistle.
