My wife’s golden doodle that I didn’t want turned out to be the best dog I’ve ever had. Except he doesn’t like black gun bags. we are watching tv together
At first, the thought of a labrador retriever rug was a little weird. But we eventually got used to it.
My two babies... ..... lost Rogue last year and said goodbye to Alli-Gator almost two weeks ago now. First time in 22yrs I have not had a pup as a shadow here at home. These two were special and I miss them both greatly.
Sorry for your loss man, what beautiful pups. One of my current dogs is (I think) part English Setter. I had one dog for 14 years, from age 20-34. Lived in I think 5 different states together. After that long it’s hard to be anything but grateful, even after their passing, but I remember the first time I accidentally dropped a piece of food on the kitchen floor, and my shadow (as you put it so well) wasn’t there to scoop it up. I was alone, and I said aloud, “this is bullshit,” as I had to bend over to pick up a potato chip for the first time in 14 years. Eventually I ended up with more dogs, but that palpable absence after so many years.. it’s indescribable. All the best to you & yours.
Thanks mate. The last couple of weeks have been an adjustment, I don't know how many times I have been sitting somewhere and finished eating then just lowered to the bowl for the "pre-wash function" to happen. Twice I have come home and opened the back door without thinking..... her collar is still on my bedside just now. It will eventually go with the other stuff I have from last four pups, but not just yet. I may one day get another pup but it is not now in the cards.
Stephen King once wrote, “Friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant.” The same can be said for dogs. I miss the dogs more.
A rarely seen photo of the Couchness Monster showing its humps above the cushions. Cryptozoologists say it may be an off-shoot of the common Labrador Retriever, but that is yet to be recognized by the AKC.
