Jungle style combat boots? I loved mine. Hated when they switched.

I was thinking about those but trying to avoid the tactical tommy look.

Do not let the tacticool tools ruin a good thing. Cheap and effective.
Broke my first pair in in the dirt and mud in Georgia. They are great for wet and nasty. As long as it is relatively warm.

I'm a huge fan of the desert boots.

Are these heavy, or can you run in them?

Can run, but I'd advise against running any distance in boots. They're a little heavier than I remember jungle boots being, but more sturdy and comfortable overall. I've had a couple pairs that I've kept for 11+ years; one is a standard pair, and the other is thinsulate for colder weather.

Does not meet your criteria but these are some of the best boots I ever owned for heavy hiking in rough/rocky terrain plus they are flat out tacticool:

Would like to have another pair at some point but not about to pay that much for boots. I got mine at a deeply discounted rate more than 15 years ago.

It is hard to beat a good pair of Altama Jungle boots if they are still made. They really helped a copperhead stay latched on my lower leg one time though.

I have a pair of Vasque that have served very well for about five years now.
Going to Merrel's next time around.

Beware of the Merrell boots. For the record I have owned a pair of their Moab hikers every year since they came out in the 90's but only as everyday around town shoes. As for their boots in the mtns I have owned a couple of their more mtn style boots and it wasn't good. Yes they are always comfortable out of the box but they don't last long at all. The soles will wear out fast. If you haven't then try checking out Keen. I consider them to be a better grade of Merrell boots.

I do like my Mountain Lights. Worn them pretty hard for at least the last 10 years. They clean up good but the soles are finally showing a little wear. Thinking of sending them off for a resole job.

The mountain lights i have need resoling but the welt is too far gone. Its new boots for me. Going back to the drawing board. My previous filters for boots leads me to jungle boots only. Looking at asolo, danner, and trail runners from saucony.

For runners I can't recommend saucony enough, I have 2 half marathons and countless 5 & 10 k races in nothing but them. Not the same pair of course you only get about 300 miles out of them.

I LOVE saucony too. They are heaven for my feet. Just not sure if a low shoe is gonna hold up to the hiking and camping i do or not. In the heat and humidity of this gawdawful place in the summer it might be worth it.

I had and plan to get another pair of Northface trail shoes, almost wore them to field survival but change my mind at the last minute. The were great in the woods but finally wore out after 2 years.

I can handle two years. Usually get a year out of work boots.
