I considered the lace strength. You could replace the lace with 550 cord or some other substitute. Pull the leather tight and let it dry, then replace the cord with lace afterwards.

I think that's what I would do, but I would also cement the leather to the handle before the final lacing.

I started this project last weekend, but finished it up today. I call it a Sea Serpent spoon or Dragon spoon. I carved it with my mini-Tracker knife. The bowl was carved with a hook knife and then today I filed/sanded/wood burned/ and stained it. I'll let it dry well then oil it for completion. Also made a Spirit Beaver effigy while I was at it . . . we have Beaver's at the park I work at and they are stinkers. They gnaw trees for the cambium layer to feed on, then leave them standing at risk of falling and we have to chainsaw them. They are stinkers but I love them anyways. Great fun!

Made a sheath for my Leatherman. Might dye it but I'm interested in letting it naturally age out.

Glued some scrap leather to some scrap wood and made some pocket strops.

I got a little epoxy on a couple so I hope they will still load with compound properly. Guess we'll see.

Put this together last weekend. It's a copy of a JouFuu for my Sencillo. I'm pretty pleased with it. I need better stitching irons to do work with pieces with a welt.

It's a pain digging stitching irons out of multiple layers.

Thanks! Been carrying it today. Works pretty good. With some wear I think it'll be great.

Made some wax for canvas bags for tool bags for the Jeep. Gonna see how it'll work as soon as this resolidifies.
