I had owned one other Tops knife, the Tibo which I didn’t care for much. The price point on this was too good not to try. $50 with the sheath and linen micarta scales and 1095 steel. I’ve been carrying it for about 6 weeks and I love it. It came with a certificate of authenticity which stated that it was manufactured in 2010. Which was funny because I bought it new from Knifeworks. The blade was not as factory sharp as a Rowen made knife but that was easily taken care of.

In comparison to the Candiru, blade shape and size are very similar. However, the handle shape is completely different. The Candiru handle is cut pretty deep and covers your forefinger quite well, giving an almost choil like feel. The Ferret, on the other hand, has a slightly shorter handle but the scales are beefy and it feels very different in the hand. If you use a Candiru a lot, the change will be weird at first but you will adapt easily. I like the jumping too, very aggressive and lends to great control of the blade. In addition, the coating on the blade is very similar to an ESEE coating and will hold up in the same fashion. I like the sheath too. It’s a thin kydex but it’s sleek and the retention is solid.

All in all, an excellent knife.
