I'm seriously considering purchasing some TKC handles for my junglas. I've tried and failed searching for comparison pics of the TKC handles vs stock micarta. I've read a few complaints about the TKC being too thin, but for my hands that could be a pro instead of a con. Actually, bringing down the over all circumference of the grip area is the main reason I'm looking into the TKC handles.

I'd love some feedback from those who have used both and any pics would be a bonus, especially if you have a side by side shot of the spine to see the contours of the TKC compared to the straight width of the micarta.

The stock handles really are good, so that's why I'm debating if I NEED these scales or if I should just save the money for more bourbon.

    Thanks!

There's also the option of customizing factory scales.

@STPNWLF now THAT is some nice work!
    Thanks for the pics.

Maybe customizing is a good idea for some, but not this guy :D
I'd much rather pay the pros at TKC than mess up my perfectly good micarta.

On the old forum there was a passaround Junglas with TKC scales. I did not like them as much as the stock ones for the girth reason. To me a chopper that size needs some serious grip.

Regarding photos, between the forum being lost and photobucket removing non-paying folks pictures, those photos are likely gone.

Darn. I understand the new forum, but man, the whole Photobucket thing really ruined a former archive worth of good pics.

Imagine your hands are smaller than they are, would you say the thinness and contouring would help get a better grip all around and especially toward the front "guard"?

If the TKC's are at all comparable to the grip diameter of the SYKCO 1311 I got to borrow from 91bravo a former member here it would be a benefit imho, and I wear size XXL Mechanix gloves. YMMV...

I'm also considering getting a set of TKC's eventually for my Junglas, if not I'll contour and put a pattern in on my stock set like I did to the original stock set my son conned me into trading him.

Thanks for that comparison. Could you (or anyone) say how the TKC junglas handle contours compare to a Becker bk9 stock handle?

I haven't gotten to handle a set, just going off of pics from the old forum.

    Thank you, @STPNWLF

That pic from TKC is the best I've seen to illustrate the contours. A pic from straight above the spine, especially next to the stock handles would really help me before purchasing. I figured here would be the best spot to find someone who had both types of handles.

If the pic you shared is the ranger green with red liners, that's the exact one I'm looking at for my gunsmoke junglas. Contours would be great, but I'm thinking those colors together would really look sexy.

The TKC picture is the black w/red liners.
Also hard to go wrong with the TKC scales, you can add more liner material to thicken them up. Or if you just don't like em at all you can sell em off here on the forum.

I had an Junglas with them once, but never got a chance to use it before I sold it off. I am debating purchasing the orange TKC scales.

Are they pretty slick? I like the contour but fear that they may be too thin.

I'm also wondering about the grip of the scales. More than that even I'm curious how the contouring is. I'd like if TKC's contouring made the grip a little slimmer.

The TKC scales fit in fine with the stock sheath, right?,
