Anyone tried these? I'm not overly fond of the regular TKC scales that came with it. (Twas a gift knife) They work ok, I just wonder if I would like them better with a little longer grip. Thoughts? Comments? Pictures?

I have them on one of my 4's. I'm not a huge fan but other people rate them highly.

May I ask why you don't care for them? The regular scales seem like there's not quite enough there, especially with gloves on.

I didn't have a 4, but since it's the same length handle as a 3 I'll say that if your hands are larger the extended section does give a larger area to grab on and a bit more leverage in use.

They kind of feel cheap and the fit is not that great. At lest not on my knife.

My biggest problem with them was no palm swell like the other G10 TKC scales. I do get what you're saying though.

I had them, didn’t care for them, sold them. I do, however, like the compact version. The extended ones are quite square and don’t have much palm swell. I’d agree, the fit and finish just wasn’t on par with the 5/6 or compact 3/4 handles.

I didn't feel the need to get them for my 3 or 4, but I did get a pair for my LS. I have to agree with those complaints concerning the way they fit. I ended up putting my stock micarta scales back on because they fit my knife better. Anyhow, not to sound like I'm bashing them because I love their store and customer service. Do you think a fatter set of scales would be a decent compromise to a longer set? Do you consider yourself crafty? If so you could put a set of liners on your existing set. It would be cheap fix, and if you're as OCD as I am you'd enjoy the detailed sanding involved.

Nah...I need the extra length. It just feels unbalanced. So does the 6 i just bought. They both feel better if i move up to the choil.

I have a set of the extended scales but I never could get myself to like them. I cut them down even with the base of my 4 and now they are on one of my user 4s.

I guess I'm in the minority. I had the original extended tkc scales on my 4 and loved them. Fit me perfectly. I did not like the compact style on the 4. Loved them on the 3. I agree with what you said black5, with the compact on the 4,it just doesn't feel like there's enough there. Very unbalanced. With the 3 being shorter, and lighter, they worked well.

Ok, looking at the compact scales, there is no palm swell. They are TKC scales also. So I may try them. Looks like the thickness will be the same.

4 at the top with the extended scales and 3 at the bottom with the compact scales. I prefer the compact to the extended, the swell on the compact feels better to me.
