Just goes to show you may have to spend an unexpected night in the woods. Haywood county has a squared away team and we work with them on occasion in training.

I agree and my thoughts exactly when I learned of the rescue going on. We had just gotten out of there the day before and it was raining on us and the temps were dropping - in fact I think the mountain had ice that night - so when I heard about this I was thinking I sure hope they had some basic survival gear.
That was a good article. Glad those guys made it out ok. Pretty wild to see Mike Street's name in that article. I just talked with him on Thursday.
Mike is a first class guy and one helluva good rescue technician. Will probably see him next week during Wilderness Week.
