So, I was at work and my team has heard me talk about how bad I want one of these and all the Facebook posts I’ve made... then today one of them said they saw it for sale. I ran over to exotac website for disappointment. Then she sent me a link. I guess battlebox had extra! So I ordered one. It was $44 after $10 shipping and handling. Worth it for a good piece of exotac gear. Now @EXOTAC make it in orange and I’ll buy a second!
So after I ordered I decided to check the website without the link. I checked all of the pages in each category of the shop and did not see the ripspool listed. That concerned me... but... today it shipped!!!
yikes.......$34 USD for the RipSpool (not bad!) PLUS $38 USD to ship to canada - YIKES! Almost $100 CDN, not including duties NOPE. I'll wait for local dealers to carry them. $38 USD shipping - i can mail a cylinder head for my diesel jeep cheaper than that......lol...where do these guys figure $38 USD for a 1 oz keychain sized item is appropriate?
the spool price is fine.......but that shipping plus additional $15-25 duties/taxes at the border, plus EXCHANGE rate.......nope lol
someone casually mentioned via email that it seemed like I was crapping on Exotac for their prices......FAR FROM IT......I love the products Exotac is making!!!!! I was crapping on resellers/retailers that GOUGE buyers in the shipping costs. $38 USD to mail a 1.5 oz keychain sized piece of aluminum.....<<<<<THAT IS OUTRAGEOUS. Last year I literally mailed a 50lb CYLINDER HEAD from a diesel engine, from Canada to the USA for only a few bucks. WHY does a little tiny , sub 3" piece of aluminum (RipSpool) cost so much to mail? (not Exotacs issue......its the resellers.......)
I agree with you. I was fine with the exotac price tag but I debated about the $10 shipping. I mean I can send 3 day priority for $6 and the post office gives the boxes away for free. If it makes you feel better I didn’t take it as you bashing exotac, shipping internationally is getting stupid
Here it is with my titan lighter, some @RedEyedHog sessoning, my CR2.5 and my Fenix LD12 flashlight. Talk about EDC...
