Stopped by SMKW Friday when we got to town and picked up a couple toys. I decided to try a Victorinox Rangergrip 78 for a new EDC/hiking blade. It's pretty nice! I love their steel. Super sharp out of the box but a light stropping and it's dangerous. Also picked up a Cold Steel Spetsnaz trenching shovel to carry in the Xterra. The little shovel I've been carrying has the plastic D handle and it deforms and twists with any real use. Lastly I grabbed a copy of Dave Canterbury's Bushcraft 101. Been meaning to grab a copy for a while and I needed some reading for the weekend.
I couldn't help myself. As seen on the Interweb. When they did a sale on this multi functional shovel at $68 I bit. I have been needing something like this for the Jeep Wrangler, which doesn't have a great deal of storage. Pretty decent quality.
My 511 EDC Flashlight went down, so picked up this new Streamlight Stylus Pro. About the same size as my previous EDC with simple push button end cap. I’m happy with it.
I've been using Stylus Pros since they were like 40 lumens. Great flashlights. I had been needing to pick up a couple of new duffels but was trying to avoid buying from TNF or Patagonia. Thankfully First Lite came out with some options so I picked up the small and medium packages. https://www.firstlite.com/products/dirtbag-duffle-small
A new organization addition for the heavy recon and a poncho for the next 7 months of monsoon weather
Been holding off posting these because they aren’t in hand yet, but I won’t take a better photo than Rick.
Picked up a used fatty on Amazon and been working on filling it as an edc pouch. I felt weird without one but it's finally done. I wrapped the handle in paracord and replaced the zipper pulls. A friend got me the patch.
I finally had time to check out the new duffels yesterday. Built well with nice features. They're kind of like an upgraded Basecamp or Blackhole duffel with more organization.
I picked up a Silva Explorer (?) compass and a Black Diamond 350L headlamp at Gander Outdoors yesterday. The headlamp was 25% off, which it came out to $30. I've been wanting a slimmer headlamp for the Xterra for a while and this is a lot better than the rechargeable Streamlight Bandit I keep in my pack. As for the compass, I was looking at the land nav slides and self test that they posted here and realized I needed to upgrade my gear a little. Now to start studying and try to work out some practice routines for myself in this area.
Well, I didn't buy it but I rented an 18" auger bit so I could dig some 4' deep holes. Making concrete bases for our steel arena light poles.
Bought a Mr coffee 12 cup coffee pot for $20 a an ONN sound bar for $30 both at Walmart yesterday. Been using a 5 cup with no heating element and it sucked lol. The sound bar sounds really good, especially for the price. I've owned $80-100 ones that didn't sound this good.
My new 4500 psi air compressor that my gf bought me for Christmas was delivered today. The box has a fist size hole in it through a 1" thick honey comb cardboard panel. One of the hard lines on the compressor is scratched and bent and all the accessories are missing. Luckily returns are easy with Amazon.
