A 4 or 5 model in 3v steel
Not a knife but, hey, someone should do it.
A small, 4"-ish, high quality sharpening steel. Useful for touching up a blade without unnecessary removing blade steel through sharpening.
Victorinox and Friedrich Dick both make just such a thing.
Thanks for the heads up!!!!
So does EZ-Lap
Pretty sure they only make diamond abrasive rods, not true butcher's steels.
True, I was going by @Stray Round 's dimensions.
Probably no money in it, but I wouldn’t mind an ESEE Entrenching Tool (EET-1)
Somewhere between this one, (Cold Steel Special Forces)
And this one, (Condor Wilderness Survival)
I love a good shovel!
They chop, they slice, they pound,
You can pry with them, dig with them, There are better melee weapons, but these shovels sure beat a sharp stick.
You can even cook on them.
Heck of a versatile tool.
A good shovel and an ESEE-3 would make a nice pair.
Back up idea,
A good solid compact breeching tool.
I'd actually come up with a design for one at one point and reached out to a good potential contractor to make them and didn't end up having very good success with getting a response from them when submitting the request for quote, so it kind of faded. I'm a huge shovel/spade nerd so I'd love to revisit the concept if the ESEE crew were up for it. It was enough years ago that it'd be worth giving it another shot in my estimation.
I think the sweet spot is somewhere between the two.
No moving parts is good.
I’d like esee to make a full kitchen knife set. Like the set in a block with like 16 knives in it. But I wouldn’t want them to look like a plain set. I’d want to be able to pick them up and know dam this is an esee knife and say wtf this is cool........so I’m not having to take out my esee 4 and cut food up after I just killed something with it or put it threw the ringer.
I don't like to ressurect a dead thread, but I'll second the entrenching tool, bushpot, ss mess kit, and a Parang (xl.)
How about the 3HM in S35?
Link below goes to a Klein pocket steel that I just ordered. Looks like it is a true honing steel and gets some good reviews.
Junglas 2 with the HM handle
Just wanted to let folks know that I received that Klein pocket steel in the mail today and it's a winner. A true honing steel with very fine ribbing. After touching up a couple of pocket knives as well as a couple of kitchen knives I had to set it down long enough to order 2 more. One for the glove box, one for my HPG Kit Bag, and one for my camp kitchen container. Knife steels I used it on were BD1N, s30v, Case CV, and VG10.
Have any photos of it open? The only ones I could turn up had it closed.
Here you go.
Handle is kinda lightweight but it does the job. Unscrew the steel, reverse it, then screw it back in. Plenty to hold on to for my big mitt.
