Had the pleasure of going through the second level of North Carolina Emergency Management’s MSAR (Mountain Search and Rescue) course last week. Awesome class with a great group of instructors who know their stuff. Here are a few pics from the class:
Just depends on the operation. I was carrying about 28 pounds total including my personal technical gear and overnight gear. By the time you add team gear with litters and ropes, it can get heavy beating your way through Rhodo going to the top for a rescue. But the Spam is the most important piece of gear.
I can believe you attach the ropes to the litter to send it down.....we use to just tie 'em in tight and say hang on !!
