    It's about 4 hours from where we live now. We make the trip up every year or two. Beaches are awesome, great scenery, a decent variety of hiking paths, nice waterfalls, and some good places to bring the kayaks. Everyone who visits the area usually stops by Miners Castle and the cove. If you ever stop back up you can take the ferry (aka pontoon boat) and mountain bikes to Grand Island across the bay. 23 miles around the perimeter of the island. Has some nice views and is a fun day. The island has some great backpacking sites that we stayed at as well. We backpacked there three years ago were were the only ones (besides the ranger) spending the night on the island. Campsite was the last one in the Pictured Rocks post and we had an amazing beach all to ourselves!

    Oh yes, thats the big rat. It had nasty teeth that sliced through Guinness' leather collar.... Could have gone horribly wrong. I didn't let him eat it... I think letting a dog hunt on his own is a bad idea :O so didn't want to reward this action. :)

    Just receive the mystery prize in the mail today. Thanks a lot @Bushman5 you really are generous! For those of you wondering what the mystery prize was... it was an Exotac NanoSpark, 4 hour nano candle tins, fatwood shavings tin, a freekey slim, and a ripspool field repair kit.
