Preparing for a backpacking trip
And on the trip
It has arrived, again. Good to have it back.
Nothing cuts like a 3. My 3HM is still a staple and always trustworthy in the woods!
You got that right. I can shave my hair without even feeling it and it cuts through the plastic bubble packages like butter.
I have a package coming today. I’ll have to give that a try. I’ve always used my old Victorinox for them
Let me know how it went
Went just as you’ll expect. Lightsaber
Let’s see some well used 3HMs in their natural state. I’m supposed to have a snow storm tomorrow and will post as soon as I have some good pics.
That third pic is my standard for a solid day hike prep. A good ole 3hm and a Victorinox (mandatory to have a saw).
I started carrying a Silky Pocketboy on hikes a while ago and since then the SAK is a simple 2 layer one, with just the blade and openers. But I need an Outrider if I want to go light.
I typically carry a hiker or camper model. I’m into the traditional sized SAKs especially when I’m running a fixed blade like the 3hm or a Garberg.
Added some front jimping to aid when choking up. Not the prettiest but functional.
Love those handles. My nephew picked up one of the new 1095 3s with those. Did you do a swap?
yes I had to order a brand new Esee 4 to swap out the G10 ones. Can't understand why they're not standard offerings on the 3. My buddy is buying the brand new 4 from me with the milled black G10 scales.
