My Christmas present from my beloved. She and her friend Sunshine are going to be the death of me. :)
I signed up for the year long "Sunshines Fitness Challenge". She's a really sweet soft spoken MMA participant, the idea is to compete in as many mud runs, obstacle courses, and outdoor activities as we can find to get into.....I predict there will be suffering...lots and lots of suffering. :D

It is the Calphalon Premier™ Space Saving Hard Anodized Nonstick 10-Piece Cookware Set, we also got the 8qt stock pot for the set. It can go from stove top to oven and its dishwasher safe. They cook good I made black-eyed peas and collard greens in them yesterday.

    Just picked this up............

    IMG_4862.JPG

First Edge 5050. I was super curious about this when it came out a few years ago.
Found a good deal on one, got it, did some handle mods and put it in rotation.
Lets be real here.....This might be the only knife in the 5 inch blade class that can make an ESEE 5
seem svelte. Yes, at 17.4 oz she's a porker.
After handle mods my 5 is 15.5 oz.
Elmax steel, G-10 Handle and the shape of a 5.
I will work with it for a bit and probably move it along unless it amazes me in some
    unknown way.

My new gear isn't much, but it'll play a role in this year's outings for sure. The first is a poncho from Bushcraft Outfitters. Not only to keep the rain off but hopefully will use it as a shelter on some ultralight overnights in this coming year. The other is the new MSR Pocket Rocket, redesigned to be lighter and more compact. I love the open fire and packable wood stoves, but with constantly changing fire restrictions in the Southwest I have one of these so my outdoors trips can remain flexible. IMG_6327.JPG

Nothing. Not a dang thing, but I crossed the finish line, dead last but I crossed it all the same. One lady stopped at 2 miles,,she got tossed by a horse 2 weeks ago and said her hip was hurting. She gets a pass. Her husband turned back and walked her to the start line. He gets a pass. 1 couple didn't show up. No mercy for them...it was cold and misting rain and generally not a good day for outdoor excersise. My reward was putting rubber on the ground till the trainer said "Hooya. 1 hr 10 min. You finished." ;)

One of my goals for this year is to cut past the smoke and mirrors, and focus on IRL. Part of that is I'd like to worry less about gear for fantastical adventures I don't have the means to accomplish in the first place, and worry about kit that actually effects my life, even if it isn't the coolest, sexiest gear to talk about. So I've been piecing together an EDC bag. Just got this Kifaru Organizer Pocket in the mail to help go towards that.
