First honey harvest of the year. 9 pints from two frames. Hive is looking VERY healthy.
Wow... that's some good stuff.
Thats great!!! We hope to start a hive someday.
They really are an amazing piece of creation. I've enjoyed them more than any other critter we've raised. Chickens were a close second. I just like honey and eggs. I guess I really just like breakfast.
Ive found that an Endura makes an excellent hive tool. Congratulations on the haul! Bees are very rewarding, except when you need open up your hives in July/August.
There are dollars out there for this. I, however, have not been successful in getting a grant.
So have you been experimenting with a REH and honey mixture
Nah. I did do a granulated honey mixed with REH that makes a great rub for pork. Just too expensive to market though. I'll be selling these locally in the restaurant.
Sweet- pun intended
Very cool. I want to start a hive as well, but am putting it off until the youngest gets a little older.
I got my first bees a few weeks ago. There was a little overcrowding going on. I added a second hive body last Saturday and everyone is in a better mood. I also started another hive from a 5 frame nuc, purchased locally.
