Maybe it's just me, but when I (or someone around me) get injured, I typically think "get the 1st aid kit" not "get the camera."
I try to capture as many "learning events" as I can.

What Hugh drinks for breakfast.
Legend has it that he is a descendant of Elizabeth Bathory.
Is this a legitimate picture? Cause damn... What's the story behind this?
loots to me like it's from one of the ditch med classes or something similar..
my wife 's surgery aftermath. she broke her ankle practicing brazilian jiu jitsu a few years back. we were working on some stand up, specifically some judo throw techniques, and it went kaboom. i heard it all the way on the other side of the gym - sounded like someone clapped their hands!
and here's my foot.. motorcycle injury. some idiot pulling a home built trailer sideswiped me coming around a blind corner on the Tellico River Road. i still don't know how i kept it on two wheels. all soft tissue damage, nothing torn up. took me about a month to fully recover.
when it happened, i was in a little bit of shock. kept riding. realized i couldn't put my foot on the peg.. i was afraid to look down, thinking my leg was mangled or my foot was turned around backward or something.. i finally worked up the courage to look, and the controls had broken off the bike. foot was pointed in the right direction, i could move it.. caught up with my friends and stopped, took off the boot, quickly realized that was a bad idea - it started swelling instantly.
got home by attaching a small pair of vise grips to the shifter shaft so i could shift gears and have a place to rest my foot. that was a bummer of a day.
Was driving a fence post through a stubborn rock just inches from the post being set when it caught on the top of the post at the hardest strike i could muster and angled into the top of my head. There were lots of cuss words and growling to ease my pain. Thats step one.
Pressure for the bleeding that ran down my face and neck. Step three as we like to cuss a lot. Trip to the ER produced some cool staples. Doc was happy when i told him to skip the local block and staple away. Step four all done.
This is what happens when a 40 year old man thinks he's still 14 and rail slides on a Skateboard.
Snapped my wrist mid November, had surgery the week of Thanksgiving to put a plate and screws in my wrist. About three weeks away from the being completely healed.
That looks gnarly
The gnarliest part was the two hour wait to get it set in the ER. The swelling got so bad, my hand felt like it was on fire from the pressure on the nerves.
Cut yourself as well next time. When blood pours out your noggin while youre talking to the front desk you get right in.
Small town and the start of deer season, the anaesthesiologist was hunting.
