Being a life long lover of knives I didn't learn to sharpen knives freehand until my early 40's. The other day I was digging through a box in the garage and found a large cheap folder. I'm certain it was one of my boys when they were younger and it was dull as hell so out of boredom I sharpen it up. It really didn't take much to make it shave and I was really surprised. Of course I bragged to my wife as I'm shaving all the hair from my belly (she hates that) when a thought crossed my mind. I concluded that back in the 80's when we all had those flea market, hollow handle Rambo knives that it was in fact that knife that made me procrastinate for so long on learning. It was the 40 grit stone that came with it and the soft Chinese pot metal the blade was made of. The knife went dull and as I scraped that lava stone along my blade I could do nothing more than make it worse, much worse forever scaring me into never ruining a knife again. Had I been introduced to proper tools earlier in life I could have saved thousands of dollars and unknown frustration.

Yes, that's it! That's what I'll start saying at least, to make it seem intentional :D

Trying to resist the allure of a Black Friday knife sale. 265 (cdn) for a Lionsteel TM1 - not a great deal, but a bit better than reg price. It's around 55.00 off right now.

Edit: Well so much for that.....resistance was Borg.

Thanks, all, for the kind words. This last week has been pretty wild. My in-laws came Friday night but left yesterday because they already planned to spend Thanksgiving with other family but they'll be back Sunday. They've been a great help. Rosie and Megan have been healthy and well. I'll go back to work on the 30th which sucks but I'm grateful to have had these two weeks off to help with the transition of being a couple with two dogs to being a small family. Speaking of the dogs one is in love with her and is concerned any time he can't see her directly, the other is pretty indifferent.

We had the exact same with our dogs when the first 4 were born; one was indifferent, and the other (German Shepherd) slept next to the crib for each baby. I miss that dog.

The curious thing is that Tori (the latter dog in my description) has been in homes with small children and has always been very kind toward other kids. Petey has an unknown past but when he first met my niece he was terrified of her. At one point he nipped at her, which scared us all and he got the fear of God put in him after that. We put him in a muzzle at one point, just to be safe around kids. After spending a month with family we thought he was simply tolerant of children. Now we can clearly see that he'll be as loving as can be.

Its good for a dog to have a child and a child to have a dog.

I jumped the pukebucket ship and am now a full time imgur user.

Haven't had one lick of a problem with imgur. Heck, even their email spam is almost gentle.

If you buy a Google Pixel phone they offer unlimited (full res) cloud storage for photos and 4K videos :) <-- I personally don't care about cloud storage, as I hate someone else having control/possession over my files.. But Google isn't gonna crash, and if they do they have back ups that will recover it. I'd say virtually zero risk there.

Now that I think about it, what you're talking about wouldn't apply to buying a Google Pixel. I'm not even sure you can use google as a host for linking photos to. And the file storage will be for the phone, not all your previous media files.

well technically with the new forum software here , i dont need photobucket anymore.

I can store my photos in the cloud and just upload the jpeg file via the forum software when i want to post a photo.

I want a google pixel phone, until I saw the $1200 price tag locally.

That must be for the 128GB version ?? It's 900 for the 32gig. It's hilarious how much companies charge for additional memory, that in reality, costs maybe $20-30.00 more. But that's ok, it's only a 900% markup.
