Almost a month in CO was a great time. We hooked up with Family in Estes Park, and Friends in Grand Lake and Ouray. Friends Son brought in his boat and fishing for Lake Trout on Granby Lake was a real treat. We did one guided Jeep trip to Yankee Boy Basin, where it rained and snowed and the trail was so bad we had to scrub part of the trip. We had some really nice backroads which weren't technical but were high clearance and rough, some 4X required. The wildflowers were outstanding and we had just enough rain to keep some of the dust and fires at bay. Did a bunch of 2.5-5 mile hikes. Ouray/Ridgeway area. Highlight Jeep road was Last Dollar from Ridgeway to Telluride about 20 in and loop 40 total miles with plenty of beautiful stops along the way. Estes Park/Alma Kite Lake. Which is a trailhead for many mountain hikes 13K plus foot. Nice drive in that turns to 4X required. 5 Campsites that were still snowed in to the tops of the picnic tables. Breckenridge/Dillon was a bit touristy. Plenty to see and do. Most exciting Pass. Independence from Aspen to Leadville. Put it in the class of Going to the Sun. I'm keen to go back next early Summer for more technical Jeeping. I need a winch and some other self rescue gear.
Thanks for sharing! Love seeing what you are up to... Someday when I retire (in a long, long time) I hope to travel the county for a few years.
Pictured Rocks and the Munising area (lots of waterfalls) including the National Lake Shore of Lake Superior is outstanding. We have been there a few times. Always a treat.
