Feel free to add your pics/thoughts on your Cold Steel Drop Forged knives here: I'll start with my Drop Forged Hunter in 51200 steel A very stout one piece I-Beam handled knife. The recesses in the handles were why I bought the knife - I wanted to put an Exotac FerroRod, fat wood pieces, and vacuum sealed Tinderquiks in the recesses, then cord wrap not a great wrap, lots of uneven surface - I may just use small @5col ranger bands instead, or a short length of bicycle inner tube slipped over everything Onto the sheath. Tied paracord and slipped double sided Velcro thru the slots So this USGI compass pouch would snap right in all done. Still need to fill the pouch with kit, but it turned out all right. The knife itself came screaming sharp outta of the box , a quick strop and I was shaving carrots in the kitchen, dicing onions and cubing chicken. will be field testing in the woods this weekend
i really like the boot knife, prolly gonna pick one up eventually. ... maybe try the exotac on one side, and a stick of fatwood on the other, each sandwiched by tinder tabs? might be a little more comfortable that way.
it's quite comfortable now. It's just that the cordage is sloppy. I'm waiting for a buddy to send me his inner tubes
I despise the Cold Steel Drop Forged series. I'll never own one! I also have the drop forged Boot Knife, but no pics.
