My 2nd Candiru and 4th neck knife. An Esee around my neck is an everyday carry. I need a simple cheap way of making my paracord necklaces with an easy quick release.
Would a candiru work for splitting a deer sternum? I'm looking for something that I can wear around my neck when I'm in a stand and it'll be accessible to either hand if I fall and maybe need to cut my tether. But it'd be nice if it could also help out when I get one down.
I guess it could be done. On an older animal it might be a chore. Id think there would be a better option in an esee 3 or even an izula.
The power supply for a blade is its handle. A full size, beefy handle equals power to do what you’re wanting. The Candi in my opinion isn’t a sternum splitter.
I made a field expedient handle with some wood I had laying around and bankline. Tested it with a rock and knife fire. Good to go. Made some curls and fuzz sticks and a fresh divot on a bow drill set I had laying around. E-Z coal. Cedar bundle. Fire. Cool little Knife.
Just etched this for my soon to be one year old great grandson, I enjoy the sour looks from the women almost as much as giving him his first knife.
