Yeah that did come out really good. Wooden shafts is all we use.

Look at the flex of that arrow. What a cool shot. Glad to see you're doing well on the wrong coast @Mountainmistwanderer

Nice form. I know that some people have trouble going back and forth between a recurve and a longbow- grip variations and bow mass mostly- do you have trouble? How about a glove vs tab, are those pics from different eras or do you switch?

Thanks. Wrong coast is correct. We are actually looking into getting out of this state. Maybe Oregon. But we will go where they are willing to pay us. Even if it is the Santa Cruz/Monterey area where we have a clan of happy bow buddies.

Thank you. We got a Primitive Shooting dvd from Fred Asbell as our bible. Give him the credit. Since we don't know much about archery we didn't realize a change of difference between the two except for the higher weights of the longbows. We also switched to gloves over tabs. She likes the glove better but for me it doesn't matter. We started on recurves but switched to longbows. More primitive like.

I love longbows. Recurves too, but longbows > recurves; I shoot a Centaur and my son shots a Liberty. I have plans to make a few bamboo backed osage longbows when grad school is over. Actually bought the matterials before I got in so they are just seasoning at my Dad's woodshop.

Longbows do rock. The longbow Julia has is a burnt bamboo back. So cool looking. Bamboo color but darker at the seams. I seen on ebay a person sells a bamboo and osage orange kit for one to build their own. Also had a couple of different variations. I was thinking about doing that next but I think I want a real snakey piece of osage orange. If I can do that right then it will be so awesome.
Your dad having a woodshop is great. Best of luck with the build. Look forward to seeing it.

I love my recurve. I go back and forth between it and my compound depending on the situation. Nothing like shooting a suffer stick.

Enjoyed a beautiful day out yesterday with my lady and our Deadwood Longbows. Come to find out that there is this mountaintop county park 55 minutes from us that has a 42 target range as you walk the trail thru a redwood forest. Cost is $6 for parking. This will be our new pratice grounds.

Any thought on the Hoyt Buffalo or Satori? I think it will be my next bow. I want to get into recurve hunting and possibly bowfishing with it if possible.

I have and it is gorgeous. I won't have the cash for a while (probably 2 months) so I'm just window shopping at the moment.

There's nothing like a little target practice while deer are strolling behind the target.
