Just bought a pair of Tony llamas last week. I loved my last pair of Justin's, and these are owned by the same parent company so I have no doubt I'll like them too
Just broke the shank in my Redwings last week. Luckily they were only 362 days old so the one year warranty was still valid
Back to the boot conversations . For hiking boots I’m thinking of picking up a pair of Merrel Moab Ventilators “mids” that or a pair of the Danner 600 series boots. Does anyone have a recommendation on a mid height hiking boot? Again As WIDE as possible..
@RocketmanDane, I’ve worn a set of Merrel Ventilators for the past few months. Comfortable shoes, however they are snug on the sides, I don’t have wide feet. I’m sure they have wide options. No gripes whatsoever with them. Work, Timberland Pro’s. I’m on my feet for long periods of time on a lot of different surfaces, slick floors, rocks, water, oil, metal work platforms..etc. They’ve been great in the teens to 100 degree temps.
Speaking of Merrel's, I bought a set of Merrel Water Mocs. They are both insulated and water proof. I have been wearing them year round, (it get's into the teens in wintertime on occasion) and I've been happy with them so far. For the mid height, I do like my Danner Pronghorns, although I haven't worn them as much as I thought I would.
I have some Russel mocassins that I had custom made in 2012. I rarely wear shoes so they will probably last me the rest of my life. I have feet shaped like that of a duck. I have a harder time with dress shoes as they would cost a fortune to have made. I have had Whites boots also, great quality but I outgrew them. Many brands use several different lasts for different models . I was issued Danners Acadias and Ft. Lewis for years. They were extremely narrow. I got some of their loggers that had a much wider toe box. It is difficult to get advice on boots because everyone has different requirements.
