Went out to Arizona for a week last month with my wife and her family (to visit in-laws that have a condo in the area) and am finally looking through the pictures. Thought I would share some of the trip with everyone here . We flew into Phoenix and spent a few days exploring within a few hours drive of there. Did some shorter trails in the area and got to check out the giant saguaro cactus. We got up before sunrise for a morning hike one day. Saw the moon setting over a pond in town and then the sunrise over the desert. Was about 70 degrees or so for the high and fell into the lower 40's at night. Got a cool pic of some steam rising off a lake in the distance. Didn't take many pictures but stopped at a local orange grove for some fresh fruit! Took a drive up to the Grand Canyon and spent a night just outside the park. Stopped and checked out some old indian cliff dwellings on the way up there and got to see a magnificent sunset. The pictures don't really do it justice but the whole canyon reflected the colors of the sky... On the last day we decided to do a morning hot air balloon ride. This was pretty cool. Spent about an hour in the sky and covered about 10 miles. About three quarters of the trip was over the desert and the last part went over small town. Due to the wind direction we took a great route that the pilot said they didn't get to take very often. People were coming outside of their houses to take pictures of us flying overhead. We were pretty low and it was so quite that we were able to hear the kids yelling hello at us as they were waving. Was a great trip and really liked the area. Highly reccomend taking a winter getaway to the area
