Man it was just a beautiful day to be outside!

Herself the Goddess says she has had enough of the highway traffic noise, the sirens, the lack of stillness.
We are going to reclaim this abandoned and overgrown land and move 20 miles (yes, 20 miles) out of town.
Looking in this direction it just over 5 miles thru the National Forest to the nearest paved road. :D

6 hours of manual labor….time to eat! I’m outside, of course I brought a..kitchen knife. ;)

Portion for one? Needs garlic. Ok a LOT of garlic!
    20240310_171028.jpeg
    ..and mushrooms. Mikey loves mushrooms…

    This piece of chicken…
    20240310_171249.jpeg
..has been in this Avery soft side all day in the sun. It’s still icy inside.

A…ahem, certain “anonymous someone” said this was the ultimate in gram counting weenie paranoia Uber light gear.
And he took it upon himself to get the manufacturer to send me a sample. ( Can I KEEL HIM now?!! :D )

    20240318_164507.jpeg
This is the Zelph Fancee Feast Stove. You can easily find his site by searching with that name.
I’ve seen them on BCUSA and they seem well received there.

    20240318_171039.jpeg
It is indeed extremely lightweight. I immediately took it out into a breezy day to try it.
Just guessing on a burn rate I set it up with 3 tablespoons of marine grade methyl alcohol fuel.

    20240318_173154.jpeg
Due to the bright light I couldn’t see any actual flames but it achieved bloom in record time, and on the shadow side the updraft of heatwave was intense. Despite no extra wind protection it did not blow out and there was a steady jetting hiss of output.

    20240318_173228.jpeg
I got a burn of around 12 minutes. The water was just at the boil point but not quite rolling. The addition of some wind protection would probably improve that somewhat.

    20240318_173209.jpeg
I sank my tea bag showing good color from the steep. It was plenty hot for tea, instant coffee, or hot chocolate.

I had slight concerns about the durability of such a light piece of gear. You probably wouldn’t want to set a full 1 liter tea kettle on it but inside of a Firebox nano, or an Emberlit or Siege Stove…absolutely doable.

I think it’s a useable piece of kit from a home craftsman . I give it a thumbs up for initial impressions and plan to see what I can do with it. :)

Adventures in reclamation landscaping. 24,380 steps taken. That just about 11 miles of picking your combat boots up and setting them down. All while taking back 25 inches at a time from a lush jungle in the midst of its spring explosion. :)

    20240327_173156.jpeg
Example? Here’s the mower, sitting in a little inlet cut showing the natural growth level behind it.

    20240327_153914.jpeg
This is one of those times there is no other way but to strap up and just bull stomp your way forward until the work is done.
( ignore the old house, I’m going to tear it down and build new. )

    20240327_153929.jpeg
Hour after hour. Just keep going. Failure is not an option.

This is way out of town, no utilities functional. Good thing I brought a pack because I am starving!

    20240327_163439.jpeg
Today’s selection is Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Korean BBQ. I’ve mixed up some smokin Asian bbq sauce just for this.

    20240327_163800.jpeg
There is no “can’t” in my world. In my not so humble opinion when you say “I can’t” you’ve already failed.

    20240327_165242.jpeg
Successful is in the will, in the mind. I can. I will….

Still eating ramen? Well stop that! This is so easy! And Fun!!

So far I’ve only seen 1 3 ft’r water moccasin and 1 copperhead + a pretty little brown field mouse. It wouldn’t shock me to find something bigger or more lethal ( I saw a smallish rattlesnake in the dirt road on the way here).

    20240327_153929.jpeg
You can’t see them here (yet) but there is are 2 stock ponds literally less than 100 meters away. 1 is directly in front of the camera and 1 directly behind. Lots of “nope ropes” in this part of the world. ;)

Left unsupervised in the gym… I will rack up 13.36 miles and 3 hrs total time dripping on the floors. :D

That means I get to eat right?
    Blackened Fish Tacos.
Sautéed Red Onion, Gently Steamed Cabbage, Garlic Honey Sriracha Mayo, Fresh Avocado, Pan Browned Corn Tortillas.

    Not for Sid!
(I’m such a liar! :). I close trimmed the edges of the fish, warmed it in some water, and poured it over his food.
Yummy raw fish for him. )

Time to revisit a classic, but with a twist. More face melting huuzah! :D Afrikaner Fish Stew.

(In your best British haughty accent impersonation:)
Don’t mind me, I’ll just be over here, practicing…the “Craft”. ( insert evil chuckle)

    20240404_153525.jpeg
Practice. Practice. Practice some more. Till the actions are second nature.

    20240404_152534.jpeg
Cook Station One! Sound Off! :D

    20240404_153534.jpeg
You think he’s napping..but he knows this is where Dada-Human gives out the tasty nibbles.

    20240404_183712.jpeg
A full box. An entire carton of freshly sliced mushrooms. That’s my groove.

    20240404_190650.jpeg
It’s thick. It’s savory. It’s my interpretation of Townsends 18th Century Cooking “Cutlets cooked in Ale.” :)
