I had the morning free and since the fog rolled in I decided to work on the shelter a bit incase I get a chance for a night out in a few weeks. I'm not ashamed to say my fire making ability got a check. I only had a few minutes to warm up some water and I didn't get a fire going. It was a good reminder that it doesn't always work out the first time. I packed the Mother Canteen Carrier and my Heavy Cover with my scout kit. I have to say that it carries the essentials really well and when I also carry my regular belt pouch I feel like I'd have my bases covered. I'll link to the thread where we built the shelter in below.

    Thanks.

I hate it when fire puts me in my place. Constant reminder that we are not its boss. Good to see you had a chance to get out there!

I can't remember the last time I spun a spark. Ferro rod, flint & steel or a bic for me.

We have a fire going now. The fire machine JR worked for 30minutes and couldn't keep things going then I stepped in but had to feed it constantly. Everything here is drenched. Wife did baton us a load of wood with the FROE. I am liking this thing and have little idea why.

Video won't play for me, but I'm having trouble streaming videos in general right now. Our blizzard has begun, and it's already in full swing south of here -- so that may be to blame. I'll check back later.

Question for @DYSPHORIC JOY, the Froe you speak of, is that the new Schrade, or something else? Last I checked, it wasn't out yet. I'm a bit interested, even though I think I'm going to go for an HM6, instead.
