It's blowing my mind how well this powdercoat is holding up. Don't mind the woody blade. Just got done playing with some feather sticks.
Far from done, but had a chance to work on the future USAF 4 for Harold. It's not perfectly mirrored but sometimes there's imperfections that won't come out in the steel that are beyond my control. A couple things came in for it but still waiting on a few also.
Nah, I like to do things by hand as much as possible, especially knives. My hands aren't what they used to be either though. New paracord bead (only one shown but have 3) compliments of @Skip808! It was a pain to thread it but worth it. Almost done with this setup, then full force on Harold's, once everything comes in.
Etched Harold's name on his, less to do once supplies come in. (this time I used a buffer as to not remove the lettering) Also, what's a good name for this other one? I was thinking "The Soldier" since it came out military looking, which wasn't my initial plan, but want to etch something on the top spine.
Thanks and thanks to you for the awesome bullet beads! Also to keep it on track, Harold's 4 in its current state
Edited, sorry I got those on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08BYHFBG7?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Everything else came in today for Harold's knife so gonna work on that tomorrow. But got a brown dangler for this one but not sure if I like it. It's not as light as I was hoping it would be but will see. What's your thoughts on the brown? Did the black look better?
I REALLY didn't want the logo that simple, but the cricut wasn't really able to make any lettering that small without messing it up and I didn't want to screw up the etching. I MIGHT go back and see if I can do just the letters USAF at about 1/4 inch for under the logo. But other than that, it is done. I hope he likes it.
Can't help myself... I need to join a modders anonymous group or something lol. Added a new RedBear signature/stamp also.
Got out to one of my spots again. Only brought the 4 with to really test the edge I put on it. Held up quite well. I batoned, chopped, sliced, cut notches and it threw sparks like I've never seen (spine was used).
First, I think Harold liked the 4. He started to choke up after seeing his name on it along with the air force etchings. He quickly changed the subject though, lol. That is until we got to the next place we were going then he went on about it for about 10 minutes. I just wanted to make him happy and give something back, not just for what he's done, but moreso his friendship. Now I had sent my Harley 4 off to @Mythical_Beast for some hollow pins work, and he did not disappoint! Although it was a week late because of the usps, it was definitely worth the wait. I've never seen an esee with hollow pins, so I'm hoping it's a first, but if not ah well. It still looks amazing.
Just got the sheath for the Bear 4 and added flashlights to the setups. Need to find a red ferro rod though for it. Love me some esee 4's..
