NOPE. Wait, is it a Texas High Standard or a Connecticut model? (Hamden or E. Hartford?) I'm proof you can have both. And be very very happy about it. Unless it's a Texas model, in which case I'm gonna play my snob card.
Then hold onto that collectible piece of target art! Such fabulous pistols. I once handled a Clark Custom Victor... it was amazing. Clark Sr. did the work. Not to belittle the model-17, mind you. But those older Victors are special. Made back when they dominated bullseye competition nationally. Unless of course you're bored with hitting the bullseye all the time.
Well it's a target pistol so it doesn't really serve any practical use, and from what I've seen online they don't seem to be as valuable/collectable as they used to be. Smith can also use 22 short, long, LR.
Heh. Everyone has a different definition of 'practical use'. As an occasionally competitive target shooter, I love 'em. They're also great for teaching new shooters and developing technique. A good understudy for a 1911 (recognizing that this IS the revolvers thread!). Not too much recreational shooting around here away from the range, so paper-punching is the regular business. Don't think I've ever purchased a box of shorts or longs in my life, but I've shot enough LR to take on all of Mordor. What do you use the little guys for? I go from .22LR straight down to pellet guns.
No competitive shooting, other than the redneck inebriated bragging. Mostly varmit control or meat for the pot.
/rant/ Why in the hell can't anyone seem to make a good all-weather, recoil absorbing grip for the Redhawk? Especially given the assumed hardcore outdoors use of this fine gun? I've tried the Pachmayr Presentation grip, and it's fine if you have at least a size "L" hand, but with my M/L mitts, it's just too bulky and hard to get proper grip alignment. And the mounting screw that's supposed to stay embedded in the opposing grip pulled out. Junk. Tried the Hogue Monogrip. I wish it covered the backstrap, and I don't understand why they didn't make it out of their nice rubber. This thing is just a hard piece of nylon plastic. I also wish it actually fit the damn gun properly, and didn't leave gaps along the frame. While I'm generally a fan of Hogue's offerings, they kinda dicked the dog on this one. And sure, there are tons of high end micarta/G-10/fancy wood options for the Redhawk (generally for stupid amounts of $$), but they really offer no functional value over the stock grips. They do nothing for recoil. Altamont makes a sweet grip for the GP100/Super Redhawk (see above). Does a great job with recoil, not too bulky and offers great grip. I'd pay a premium to have this same grip available for the Redhawk. For such a popular big bore revolver, it's a bummer there isn't a better grip option out there. Argh. /rant off/
Yeah, it's like they never updated the Redhawk grip frame from the Speed/Service/Security-Six era, and gave that nice stud frame to the GP100 and SP101 only. It's hard to find good S&W grips for a particular hand for the same reason. The underlying frame is just kinda between things.
Agreed. Ruger needs to update the Redhawk frame with the handle stud. Then all of the grips that fit the GP100 and the Super Redhawk would fit.
Now I'm wanting to trade my M&P R8 357 Magnum (top) For a 686 like this Pre lock 686 Midnight BLACK 6" brl 7shot Ported?
