The only thing that's changed for me is my beloved Native 5 has been bumped off the top of the list in favor of my S35vn PM2. This may change when the Shaman is released.

Carried a Delica for years, still consider it my perfect edc, in some aspects, as weight, flat shape, methods to carry as i do IWB about 4 o'clock, simple steel and so on, but moved to traditional American knives, and carry since 2011 or so a peanut or a stockman 18 as my urban knife. Gotta love those, with their hollow thin grind, perfect slicer for the city, or to play with a stick. To forests, when i go, i take a Hest or an Izula, ussually the Hest, thing which i find weird, because i love the izula more, in shape and aspect, everything, the Hest just jumps there...Well, good thing they are bot small, let's say. Always a flashlight, always, normally it's just a Fenix E01, not strong, 13 lumens or so, but will keep it's power enough to help in need, as it keeps it over 16 hours with a simple AAA, which i may have more in my backpack. Fire, i like to whittle some wood and prepare it, light it with firesteel and such, although i am ready with a small bic, so the first part is just for fun actually. I use to carry a Zippo before, beautiful ones, but since i don't smoke anymore, a small bic will do fine, until a small split pea will arrive to me. A rambler on my keys, always necessary, and much better than the classic one, the one with the ring behind the blade and no screwdriver. In the wallet, a sears 4 way and P38, and watch, the same mudman from 2008, which i broke the strap somehow this year, but fixed it with some paracord strands. A rebar, goes well in my backpack, and better than a soldier/farmer. A small yellow sharpening stone, 1 inch by 2, 7mm thick.
Its interesting that people have blades in their list. If I'm completly honest a knife doesnt make my top 10.
I can think of a **** ton of stuff I use outdoors more than a knife especially when I'm backpacking. Not anywhere as cool as knives tho. Just thinking out loud so to speak.
I use my coalatree kachula all the time. http://www.coalatree.com/home/153/kachula-blanket-v1?search_query=Kachula&results=3

Well that's the thing though, it's just "Your Top Gear", not necessarily "Your Top Outdoor Gear". I personally carry and use EDC stuff a lot more than I do outdoor stuff. And even when outdoors, be it on my own time or on a rescue, I normally have all my regular EDC stuff on me. Just something to take into consideration. I'm working on my own list at the moment. Lot of things to consider.
I just wanted to add a hunting list. 1. The .308 calibre rifle cartridge. My favourite calibre, just an effective killer of deer. 2. DPT over barrell suppressors. Light weight. cheap and remarkably effective. Since trying one about 7 years ago every rifle I have has one. 3. Merino thermals. 4. Leupold bx2 cascades, well priced and mine have taken a beating. 5. 1.8litre Mors pot.
....which model ?? I have been a fan of them for years but an almost new pair had a meltdown on me this year while I was in the Kawekas and it left me a bit jaded !
Not sure Andy, they are standard issue to 4RAR, Im on my second pair, got a buddy posted there and he brings me stuff when he comes over here hunting.
..... Zamberlan Civetta, same as mine, I have worn a pair for around 5yrs and beaten the living snot out of them, been really happy. decided to break in a new pair (I have several unworn pairs) for the trip to NZ this year so i started them off as my around town boots for a few months before the trip, only off the concrete once in that time, Day 1 in the Kawekas the sole peel off heal first on the right boot and I discovered the left was letting go. To say I was annoyed is a great understatement !!! managed to salvage the 10 days with superglue and tape !!! I am now reluctant to break in and rely on one of the pairs I have left in storage. Leaning to a pair of Lowas, but I find the Zamberlans very comfy (when the sole is attached)...
