It seems to be a little more consistent in the direction that it throws. And because of the orientation of the cuts in the file (just my guess) it leaves ridges running down the ferro rod instead of across it. Now, I've only used it to start a single, small fire, but I like it so far. I'm gonna tinker around with a few other shapes and designs.
Drop loop straps for the Load Bearing rig. Quick and Dirty and functional. Wax soaked leather sheet cut into strips, weaved thru the grid matrices , secured with small 5Col EPDM Ranger Bands and bolted to the SYKCO CHOPHOUSE kydex
I love those @5col bands. I picked up a bag a few weeks ago. I'm constantly finding new uses for them. I also dig the waxed leather molle loops. I've got a little piece on the way to make a strop for a buddy. I might have to tinker with my spares to whip something like that up.
Didn't make them today, but made them over the weekend. I've been putting together a cross-country course for my wife using trees from around the property.
Lol horse. I'd definitely be taking pictures if my wife was out there jumping over those trees by herself.
Just finished modding an old spare #6 BHK sheath to fit my Winkler Field Knife. Comparing how they ride on the belt. I like both for different reasons.
Made a trap for the carpenter bees. They’re literally the scum of the flying insect world. Now that I know this design works, I’ll make a few more. They’re all over the damn place.
Brilliant! I hate them with a passion. I made a field strop for a good buddy as part a sharpening/maintenance kit.
I have three pissed off bees in there right now. Time permitting, I'm going to make another one today and set it out in the barn. They were a giant pain in the ass last summer. Halfway through the summer I treated their holes on the back deck and plugged them, then we stained every single inch of bare wood. So they're back this year looking for the old nests. I haven't been able to treat the barn because honestly, it's just too much damn wood to stain and I'm worried about the chemicals in there with the horses and the feed.
Yep, I've been there. Essentially you play one big, never ending game of whack-a-mole. We had our front porch renovated last year and went with synthetic parts where we could, partly because of them. I was sick of chasing my tail.
Sounds familiar haha. I've spent several relaxing evening with a horsefly swatter going to town on as many of them as I could. They seem to breed like rats.
Got 8sqft of .080" thick kydex in today, and the first thing I did was make a replacement liner for my Buck 119. The OEM liner is complete garbage, was splitting right in two. Not my new kydex liner though No press, so I hand bent it. Perfect fit!
Finished up a few hawk sheaths, 2 for a trail hawk and 1 for a Viking hawk, fixin to send them to a hopefully happy customer. I had one small spot that wouldn’t take dye, not sure if it got glue on it or what. I told him I would remake it if it’s a deal breaker.
