Been working on Bow Drill skills lately. Last week I crafted a Bearing Block from a piece of Doug Fir. Shaped it into a palm piece and then set a brass grommet in the base to act as the socket. Went out to the park today and sat and carved a new spindle from a piece of Arroyo Willow. Fires aren't allowed there due to fire danger, so I went home and tested out the bearing block. It worked fine, but I think grease is still necessary as I got an annoying squeak which I believe to be the block/spindle mate up. Any suggestions are appreciated. . . I am still very much learning [that's lifelong!]. Thanks much!
