At the splitting block of course
Awesome wedding venue in Cali. House was built in 1921.
Went out hunting with no luck. Bad timing with the moon animals were not moving at all. But we got to explore some new area. Way up in the mountains we found an old Willys engine and a couple rock hard old burlap bags that looked like they were hauling concrete in a shallow hollow just to my left in the first picture. It’s all old ranch land so the engine I can understand but the placement of the concrete kinda made me wonder what those old time cowboys were up to. Old earthen dam at the opening to the waterfall that has been eroded away is what I could think of.
Just got back from a coupple weeks working on the BC/Alaskan border. All pictures are taken in the Nass valley in the Nisga'a Nation. The village we did the work in was called Gingolx in BC. The lava fields are insane ive never seen so much lava rock and so many forms..
Fayetteville, WV. New River Gorge. Bridge Buttress Trail. Beauty Mountain. 11-27-2021
Tried to go hunting but heavy rains yesterday washed out the road. That’s where a two lane wide road used to be. It’s at the bottom of Pahihi Gukch that goes all the way up the mountain. Ended up going on a scarier adventure at Walmart during the holidays. Should have risked crossing the road haha.
WOW! That terrain is incredible!
A good buddy of mine and their family came to visit so we drove around the east side of the island. Waterfalls everywhere!
I wanted to see some snow - Shipka peak and the Monument of Freedom.
New Year's Eve hike in Kanawha State Forest, WV. About 4.7 miles total.
Sealed coal mine entrance
We got about 8 inches of snow from that storm that passed through.
A lot of power outages. Mine was off from Monday 2am to 7pm.
You live in a beautiful place for sure. I bet the wood stove was running hot
A few years ago I installed Gas Logs in my fireplace. Makes it pretty convenient and especially nice when the electric goes out.
Saturday I went hiking to Babcock State Park, WV. Did Old Pond Trail and Skyline Trail. Morning started at 16F with an inch or two of fresh snow. Then I went to New River Gorge National Park and did Long Point Trail. Around 9 miles total.
The Grist Mill
Overlooking Glade Creek
New River Gorge
Overlooking New River Gorge Bridge
Awesome place, the mill is really cool.
Man I haven’t been on in a minute (lots of sickness, life, and family stuff.) But I’ve finally been able to start hiking consistently again. So here’s a few pics from the last couple weeks. (I’ve been knocking out some loop trails between 9-20 miles each).
Went for a 5 mile hike today with Dog. Kanawha State Forest, Charleston, WV
