kind of weird yet awesome night, I left the apt to get some cold ones and on the way spotted a couple with an older well aged SUV , parked half in a construction (coned off) zone and part way into the street, a construction site that i service bins at. They had their 4 way hazards on and both were sleeping in the front seats, blankets pulled over them . OK fair enough, maybe they have been driving all day and are exhausted. There was lots of camping gear inside the vehicle

Got home, and browsed Craigslist for a few minutes..looking at auto parts, trucks for sale etc .

noticed an ad posted 45 minutes earlier in my area. "Help out of fuel, (listed a street intersection)".

hey thats the SUV i spotted earlier......

got back into the truck and drove a few minutes down to them. Both of them were sleeping in the front seats, curled up together under a sleeping bag

    I knocked on the window

    Hi

you two out of fuel? they sleepily replied yea, we ran out and pushed the truck into the construction area. We're visiting from Ontario and our parents (hers) are asleep, we did not want to disturb them. I got a key to moms place but shes asleep now and will freak out probably if i call her at this hour. So we just pushed the vehicle as far as we could off the road. Mom has a garage , we were going to park / sleep there overnight and then surprise her in the morning

So i filled their tank with the jerry can in my Mazda (new one) about 15 liters. Nothing i'm going to fret about....even with CAD fuel prices

I was a bit overwhelmed with their response. Dude (Keith) shook my hand and was so grateful. Girl, (Sarah) hugged me and was crying.

I told them that someone helped me out once, and to pay it forward.

They started their SUV,took a bit to get fuel to the injectors but it started finally.

She was crying so much she was so happy.

They drove off . Never have i seen a girl or dude cry so much.

pay it forward folks. Help out total strangers (but keep your situ awareness) , they are not all scammers or thieves or filth.

in wet hell.......3800 feet elevation gain, in just 8 KM. Average speed 1/8 of KM per hour, some sections i could go only a few meters before having to pause. Some sections were so steep i had to crawl.

did make the cabin, late in the day. Got that stove roaring hot and dried out and warmed up.

yes thats a trail. Quite common here in BC

Lost Lake Emergency Shelter. A middle aged man name John has repaired/maintained and flown in firewood for decades now. Hes getting on in years.....will probably not be doing this anymore come next year. Its too extreme of terrain and elevation gain to haul crap out and to chopper firewood in. (big bucks to do that).

Lost Lake and the mist rolling in and out IMG_0077.JPG

still ANOTHER mountain above the lake. about 2000+ feet to the peak IMG_0083.JPG
rolling mist obscured the waterfall that feed Lost Lake
