A high quality margarita or 2 tonight. 20190308_175401.jpg

I rant about margaritas to anyone who will listen, so you guys get to hear it. I am of the mindset that a good margarita is meant to showcase good tequila. I absolutely despise the sugary, blended messes that get passed off as a cocktail. In my eyes, a solid margarita should be a lowball drink more closely resembling a recipe for an old fashioned than anything else. As an example, here is the cocktail recipe I've been experimenting with:

2-3oz of decent reposado or añejo tequila
    1 tablespoon of agave nectar
1 tablespoon of water (for dissolving the agave)
    2 tablespoons of lime juice
Shake and serve with an orange peel in the rim

Cordial cherries wrapped in dark chocolate, smooth oatmeal stout finish. Yummy.

We mostly drink Shiner beers down here because they’re so cheap in town lol. Funny enough, I haven’t been to the brewery yet, even though the house we’re renovating is about 2 minutes away from it.

Ohhh Lawrd! Being that close to a brewery....especially the Shiner one, would be very, very, VERY! dangerous for me. :D

I just bought a 12 pack of Shiner yesterday.

    It’s my “bud light”.

Sosus Double IPA from Toppling Goliath Brewing in Decorha Iowa. Fruity aroma with a hint of malt. Tasty tropical fruit flavors, pineapple, citrus, mango and such. The malt is there but just a mild bready note, a little sweet. There is a spicy flavor there as well, almost a peppery bite but not supper strong. Not as thick as it looks, goes down super easy, dangerously easy.

Snow from Tree House Brewing in Massachusetts. Thanks to a Brother in Massachusetts I have a chance to sample some of the beer from this legendary brewery. I figured Snow was a good one to empty today with all the snow melt around here. The head on this beer replicates that fine wind blown snow look and like the drifts outside it melted quick. Light aroma, really fresh tropical smell, citrusy. Has a real mild, smooth tropical fruit flavor then dives into the citrus bitter and a grassy, peppery bite. For me a nice sipper with all the concentrated hop flavor. It got a little sweeter and richer tasting as it warmed. Just a fantastic beer, a unique drink.

Treat American Imperial IPA from Tree House Brewing in Massachusetts. Mild fruity hop aroma, my 7 year old grandson said it smelled like oranges, nailed it his first sniff ;). So tropical fruit comes to mind when I take a drink, but not the usual, a little more spice, Kiwi . Interesting feel, goes from a creaminess to a fizzy bitter end. That fresh green hop bite lingers for a good while, gotta be a pile of hops in this brew! More grapefruity as it warms, less of the spice. Extremely enjoyable, very drinkable and again, unique! Thank you much Brother!

Every Day, Once A Day, Give Yourself An IPA from Evil Twin Brewing in Connecticut. Catch a whiff of vanilla and fresh hops. Flavor up front really reminds me of another of their beers with a Pina Colada twist. Sweet kind of roasty coconut flavor, a little malt. Then you get that citrusy hop flavor, lime pith bitter near the end but it mellows quickly and leaves that coconut vibe to close. The vanilla and the sweetness come on as it warms. Good stuff, that local beer pusher is doing a great job bringing in the NE quality beer…….
but he still can't find any Tree House!
