I've put a lot of thought into this since it was posted and decided I want the Martha White Theme played at my funeral. Even better if you can get Rhonda Vincent down to do it.
I've had this figured out for a while and I choose the song Dopesmoker by Sleep. Not because it's indicative of any particular habits or statements but rather because I'd like to mess with everyone one final time on my way out. I request it gets played after people talk (assuming anyone wants to talk) but before they allow anyone to get up and leave the funeral home.
I hope I'm 70 miles from the nearest road when I drop, that there's a huge herd of feral hogs to recycle my remains, and the blowing of deer, the barking of squirrels, and the wind in the trees will play forever in the open air cathedral for me.
My buddy finally was taken out by bone cancer after 8 years of fighting. He is a huge classic rock fan. He was a life long teacher, about 1\4 in higher ed and the rest at a local high school. Craig was also a People came out of the woodwork. His funeral was more like a celebration of life mixed with a roast. Like hundreds of people filling an events center. Styx, skynard, ac/dc, Aerosmith etc were all played. It was glorious. That’s the kind of funeral I want. Only I want country music.
Stone would consistently be voted Most Likely to Put the Most Thought Into a Post, if we had such a thing. He likes to post his desire to ruminate on the appointed subject for awhile.
.....no but in the unlikely event that I get boxed up for a formal send off (you will know how much I am loved by all the extra people turning up with hammers and nails to fix the lid down for good !) I am going to leave instructions for one of my Godkids (they think like me) to place a recording of someone "knocking on wood" in the box with me on a timer to come on during the service !!! Knowing my friends, someone will then unload into the box...LOL
