My theory is by the time I wallow around in my vehicle seat getting my IWB out I would already be shot. Also if you empty the first gun just pass it to the weak side, drop it in your pocket while grabbing the second out of the cargo pocket. I also carry a strip with 5 rounds in my weak side pocket.

Since I already have a G19... when is the G19 Expat™ Knives edition coming out?

19 and a 66. Ammo, holsters, speed loaders and came with the same grips.

These two will share mags and holsters and most parts.
    S&W 9c and 9 Pro.
The 9c can be a .40 caliber simply by swapping barrels and magazines.
    I keep Apex parts around.

Do you do a lot of walking around with a pistol in your cargo pocket? I always wear pants with cargo pockets and really don't like carrying much weight in them. It seems ever time I do my knee gets rubbed on the back outside corner or I notice the bouncing object when moving around.

Are you sure? I was under the impression that the external dimensions of the chamber were slightly larger on the .40 than the 9mm. So a 9mm barrel will fit in a .40 slide but a .40 barrel won't fit in a 9mm slide.

Is that James Yeager? Doesn't he carry a G19 and two G26's? Kind of 3 of the same gun with the magazine interchange. I kind of own two of the same G19's but gen 3 and gen 4, but that is just the way the chips fell when purchased.

.....I will take one, both or either.... love me some classic S&W !! A 2.5 round butt K Frame is a most stylish and well considered choice any damn time !

    I personally have a pair of 686-3s one 4 one 6 inch.

    I purchased the compact as a .40.
Replaced the .40 barrel with a Storm Lake stainless match grade 9mm.
100 rounds through it as a .40 and over 250 as a 9. Nary a hiccup in either caliber.
    Must use the appropriate mag.
    Haven't tried a 40 barrel in a 9.

The 9 Pro has a 5 inch barrel. So no swapping there.

Can go from 40 to 9 but not 9 to 40. You are correct.

Do think it is a good idea and always do it. But variety is the spice. I do not attend any training any more other than LEOSA quals. but I do always take two of the same gun. Just in case. But I have been a gun nut for 50 years and have a modest collection.

Years ago, one of my Instructor mentors stated he always took to training a gun he was unfamiliar with as it was the best way to learn it.

As for respected instructors, one mans idol is often another's ass clown. Advice is good but should always be questioned and substantiated with logic. We are different and confidence in your tools should be factored.

Caveat...I am just a cranky old man that fools around with .38 wad cutters and steel plates once a week. I often carry a single action revolver for defense when the mood strikes, or there might be Booger bears in the vicinity.

What's that old saw? One is none and two is one.
I don't feel the need to have my primary and backup identical arms, but they usually are the same operationally. Sharing magazines or speed loaders is obviously a major benefit in a protracted tussle.

Protracted tussles are pretty rare. I am just an old man trying to save the ass of me and mine. I never carry two guns. Lazinesss is a major factor. I rarely carry an extra mag. I will fire until I feel I am not in danger. I will either stop and administer aid, run away or scuffle. I want to survive and protect those around me.

The pair of guns does not have to be exact. If you have 1911s and CZ- 75, this is close enough, Glock and a H&K P-2000, close enough...unless you have small dwarf hands and cannot manipulate.

I feel like @KMCMICHAEL sometimes carries a side by side around, cradled in the crook of his arm, all nonchalant and aloof like. In his bare feet.

    "Johnny Tyler! You mad cap!"
