    Hey all,

A bit off topic here, but I’m looking to upgrade my carpenters tool belt as the $12 Home Depot one just isn’t cutting it. While I am not a pro, I probably wear this 20 hours a week renovating the farmhouse.

I did do a quick web search and occidental leather are highly recommended but damn near $300. Any other recommendations because I don’t know that I can justify that much.

    Thanks

The occidental is really hard to beat. I used to use them when I was doing houses and cabinetry. Now I have a dead-on tools harness that I wear when messing around the house since I wear it like twice a year. It’s nice but it’s not Occidental. Nothing is to be honest.

Diamondback tool belts are really nice. I would go with those over occidental.

Thanks @ManOfSteel. @mtngoat they sell both occidental and diamondback at the store I’m going to tomorrow. I’ll be sure to check them both out evenly.

They have a really cool hammer loop attachment that puts the hammer out of the way.

I’ll have to look at them. Might pick up some suspenders too. Now I’m looking for a better framing hammer.

@mtngoat i just came across those this morning. Seems like it hits all the things I was looking for except the cost. Now to decide milled or smooth ...

I went smooth because i do more finish work, just remember, you can always get both because they sell the heads separately, he even has a dead blow head for them.

Did you get the M1 or M4? I see he recommended the M4 with a spare framing head.

I got the M4 and plan the get the waffle framer extra head, for those instances where I am doing framing.

I have to agree with you until you consider most guys in the trade replace their bags 1 to 2 time a year due to wear and tear, companies like Diamondback and Occidental will cost more up front but will last most guy a lifetime. My brother has been running his Occ. bags for close to 15 years as a framer/general builder (not much finish work)

That makes perfect sense. The belts look amazing - just a bit too expensive for a moonlighting handy man like myself.

Don’t look up the hammer then.

I am glad you like it, if I was still on my tools I would be rocking those bags.
