I haven't seen a single tick on my dogs since the start of summer. The spring time was absolutely brutal though. Just walking to the barn I'd have one or two stuck to my legs and if I went down to the cow's paddock area I'd pull a few off of me every couple of minutes. The cow had them stuck all over his underside for a while. For whatever reason, they all seemed to die off once the heat settled in around June/July. Haven't seen a tick on any of the animals since then.
It's all of a sudden gotten crispy dry in my a.o. I'm betting they are going to be pretty bad on, an in the deer woods. I hate skinning one out when it's covered in them, just yuck.
Damn! Had to go dial in a scope yesterday, hosed myself with Off till my clothes were damp. I found 2 walking thru the oily sheen on my pants, the dog got a couple....but nothing quite that bad!
Eh... we used to get excited about the ticks, but after 5 years with this dog, it's just another normal thing now. A few more weeks like this and we won't see them again till spring.
Got our first coating of snow yesterday and it will be near 10°F Friday into Sat morning, so should finally put a damper on these little bastards.
Apparently these little ****ers are in full swing in Northeast Ohio. This is after already cleaning myself of ticks approximately thirty feet earlier. Both legs looked like this, plus many more on my shirt.
we just got another foot of snow over the weekend. ticks are the least of my problems right now. I'm a bit jealous and yet not jealous at the same time.
Ugh. I was hoping the winter would have killed them off. I had more ticks on me last year than in all my other years combined.
