Agree! Although being brutally honest, it's still $10 knife for vast majority people. Upgrading Opinel is like making furniture out of wood pallets, you really need an enthusiast and someone who can appreciate good craftsmaship. No offense DSD! Don't want to sound like a dick.
None taken man.i didn t mod the last few pics.there s a bunch of people (mostly french,go figure) that made a career doing this and it s a lot more than quadruple the value.i do not believe those are users, just a love for the craftsmanship for the opinel lover. @Frankenstein you missed on that one buddy, beat slicer for your pocket pal.
It figures that those artsy fartsy french faulkers would pay obscene amounts of money for what amounts to whipped cream on a pile of crap. None of us self-respecting Americans would ever do something like that. (insert big giggle here) Anybody wanna see another picture of my Sebenzas? That's plural buster.
And another thing, as long as I'm blustering through here. I just realized that they took all my cuss words away. That's why I had to get creative in my above post.
Does anyone drives a Mini these days? Kinda similar thing, although it's more like CR releasing a S35VN Opinel with some exotic African hardwood and titanium virobloc lol.
I just have one plain stock not sure the model it was givin to me but I do like it it's a great slicer and it'll whittle also I don't have the artistic abilities to produce those pieces. Maybe when I talk @DSD into making me some handles for my pack axe I'll get something with the opinel also
I’ll bring this back to life instead of creating a new one.. I’m looking at getting myself my first Opinel . I need some inspiration
They're squarely in the category of "penny knives" -- solid performing knives designed to optimize performance/price point ratio. Great geometry on decent steel that sharpens easily and a comfy handle for a super-cheap price. Made to be more enjoyable to use and abuse than to buy.
No way you can be disappointed with one of these knives. Too much value for too little cost. Although, I'm upset I can't get them any more for $7 at Williams Sonoma. That's where I used to pick mine up.
Seriously thinking about getting one of these for the kiddos as a first knife. Im pretty sure I could pop a small lanyard hole in prettt easily and it be a perfect little under $20 knife
