Well didn’t go as planed. All the gates on this part of the national forest were closed. I’m guessing due to the shutdown. They are normally opened up until the end of big game season which was this past Sunday.

I had a buddy of mine that was meeting us at the site later on. And since there is absolutely no cell coverage up there the only option that would ensure he would see us was one of the sites at Sarah’s Creek. They aren’t bad and have big fire rings and most of them have creek access.

Friday night was very cold but also dry. Saturday was a different story. We got up to dense fog and a warmer temperature than the day before which solidified our thoughts on the rain. It started early afternoon and stopped just before sunrise.

An open floored teepee would have made for an even wetter weekend. So in a way I’m glad it didn’t work out. I just went with my tried and true old tent poles in the bed of the truck and a tarp.

We did hunt Saturday but saw nothing other than about 20 Turkey. I’m sure come turkey season I’ll get to see all the deer.

Anyways, it was still and good time. Here are a few pics.

I don’t think so. We walked all over that area and didn’t notice anything. Might just be trick photography.
