I'm looking into buying a WML for home defense for my handgun and I been looking at the Streamlight TLR HL in the 630 and the 800 lumens versions. my biggest concern is the backsplash on white walls inside the house how bad is it? I just don't want a light that is to bright for inside and if those are to bright then might look into the TLR-1s.
I would say one of these new lights is hard on you after door kicking for so many years with an electrical taped AA Maglite
It's weird. You don't miss the brighter light like you do with a handlight. Of course, if you are IDing targets at 50 yards, you'll want more, but indoors, 300 is plenty bright. Strobes are dumb too.
I have a tlr 1 and tlr 1hl. The hl is too bright for indoors imo. The standard model is plenty bright for any home defense.
I sold the HL because it was too bright for my house, especially in the hallway where all the doors and trim are high gloss paint. I guess if your house is more of an open floorplan it would be good. The standard 300 lumen has been perfect for the me.
