This little Bushcraft Essentials Bushbox came in the mail yesterday. I boiled water for a cup of joe on it today. It's my first compact camp stove and I like it so far. I can't wait to cook with it.

I sharpened a hatchet for my neighbor which I used to bust down the oak and cedar for my fire. I sliced my index finger open with it. I had leather gloves and a first aid kit in my pack today. Guess which one of them I used. I remembered one of my old man's favorite sayings as I dressed my wound: "There are mistakes that you don't have to make, son. Let somebody else make them for you."

@The Warrior what little vials are you using for your spices? That's a handy little setup.
@KnOeFz thanks for the cool thread!

I love woodsmoke and burning twigs as much as anyone, but to be perfectly honest, this lil snowpeak has never failed me. Quick easy use with no trace whatsoever that I was ever there. Her we were having scrambled eggs and coffee on a beautiful 29f morning. :)

Gave my new Swiss Borde Kocher a first test run today with a diy alcohol stove made from 2 sodacans.
Some people burn it with wood, I don't want the compact setup to have soot on the outside making it harder to carry inside my bag. And I already have a nice twig stove so want some other fuels source for this beauty.

It works nice, be aware that the alcoholstove tends to overheat a little in the enclosed space causing some flames coming out in different places.
Took about 6 minutes to cook about 400 ml of water (without a lid) at +3 degrees Celsius outside.

    The setup

    Flames shooting out
    [IMG]

    Yes, we have a boil
    [IMG]

    A peek inside
    [IMG]

With the bottle in it no flames are coming out because it covers the main opening of the stove,
taking it out made me loose some hair on my hands [IMG]

At the start I had only filled the stove half full with alcohol so the bottle didn't come to a boil after boiling the cup of water first.
It was close though, to hot to pull out with bare hands.

I like the way the Titanium stove turns different colors from the heat. no warping with this stove... I've hard it fired up, really hot and it still folds down flat. The TI also cools off really quickly, so you can begin handling the stove with your bare hands.

Get some firestarting paste or use 3 PJCB stuffed in, beside and under the fuel line coil . Less mess and less flare ups, faster preheating.

That's such a cool stove. Did I understand you correctly that you made those alcohol burners yourself from aluminum cans? Thanks for sharing!

That's a unique design. I like how they worked in elemnts to increase the air flow. It's not as compact as some other stoves, but there are always trade-offs when choosing gear.

Keith Titanium makes it... I've used it extensively for steel cut oatmeal, Rice, beans, lentils and grains... works great every time...

They look really nice to me. Would've been one of my top choices but I went a little cheaper because I had other gear that I also wanted. Their whole line of cookwares, utensils, and stoves seem to get very little in the way of complaints.
