About lost my wedding ring in some rapids a few years ago. We used some empty Gatorade bottles like a “scope” to look into the water and actually found it.
It’s like the guys that scuba dive in the lakes here. They find tons of sunglasses. I’m sure they find Wallets and jewelry from time to time also.
Lot of guys around here do it (on land). They find some pretty neat stuff from time to time. Mostly remnants of Civil War era and many modern things. A few more have started to dive and do creeks and such. They regularly find pieces of cars, coins and occasionally guns and on the very rare occasion old safes. Most of the good, really serious folks generally keep their findings to themselves and a small group of trusted friends. They're afraid that the areas will become known and become crowded or worse.
^ I wouldn't tell anyone anything if I got into it. I had a friend who would travel to FL in the fall and scuba dive under all the "party cove" areas after the season was over. That dude would find diamond tennis bracelets, watches and all kinds of good stuff. Of course, he had to sift through 5,000 beer cans to find the one gold ring, but he enjoyed it.
He's lucky if that's all he was sifting through in a FL party cove. That's a hands-on tour through the nether regions of Spring Break.
