That’s a good line up of esee essential blades. I need to get another esee 5.

    Thank you!
I had a Bk2 as my bushcraft knife.
I bought the 6 on sale.
I like it so much I took a deep dive from there

    After moving to Montana,

I’m feeling a strong need to add an ESEE-5 to my vehicle.

    just as insurance.

    I live in NW Wyoming.
My Bk22 has been part of my truck "survival" kit for a few years.
I'm thinking of swapping it out for the Esee 5.

The BK-2 is an awesome blade in its own respect.

But I feel the 5 takes it a step further. Sort of like a steel woobie.

I’m not uninitiated to harsh weather, but out here for some reason it seems very different.
Perhaps it is because I have no back up person any longer. I’m not really sure.

The distances between rescue and the alternative definitely have my attention.

I do not wish to be the guy from out of state they find frozen to death 50 yards from his truck.

I live in South Dakota and winters can be harsh. I carry the 5 in my work truck every day and have to swap it to the car I’m in on the weekend. I have the esee pouch on the front of sheath with some fire starting supplies and the esee fire steel. The glass breaker pommel is a great feature combined with the weight of the knife. I need to get a second one for my wife’s car so I don’t have to keep swapping it between vehicles.
