Had a couple of extra hours so my son and I went on a short jaunt. We were looking for otter sign to set some snares, but found none today.
Here's a few pics of our neighborhood.
Sorry...no knives, no gear, no fire, no fancy bushcraft ideas...just trees, and a lone mushroom.

Man rule #1, never go on hike without a knife. You can loose your man card if we here of this again.

I had a knife, or three! Just did not take any cool knife pics. Still carrying my man card.
I had my 24 hr S&R pack. It has lots of knives.

The cypress tree has resin, and could be used in a pinch. Not as good as pine, and there are enough pine around to find fat wood. What is best used on these cypress trees is the bark. It shreds in to a very fine, yet long fiber. It makes a great tinder bundle birds nest.
