Truthfully, the Junglas handle is way better...

    IMG_2344.JPG

    Hmm...

Identical in size from the side.

    IMG_2345.JPG

    Opposite sides

    IMG_2346.JPG

It's impossible to pick between these two knives as they are. However, if you live in the norther. Hemisphere, I think the BUSSE wins. Thicker, tougher, stronger. Cold winter approved. If ESEE made a .25" Junglas, I wouldn't even think about a BUSSE. Truthfully, BUSSE knives are horrendously expensive, although they are good blades. Just not affordable for most people. Mine was a gift from my brother for my 40th birthday...otherwise...I wouldn't own one.

    IMG_2347.JPG

    The choice is yours.

    Cost - ESEE
Value - ESEE ( cheaper and comes with a sheath!)
    Strength - BUSSE
    Edge retention - BUSSE
Ease of field maintenance - ESEE
Ergonomics - BUSSE without gloves ESEE with gloves.
    Effectiveness - BUSSE
    Weight - ESEE
Sheath - ESEE ( LOL hands down winner)
    Factory edge - ESEE

    Preferred climate - Southern/Jungle temperaments - ESEE

Preferred climate - Northern climates - northern USA / Canada.

Go ahead and roast me, but is just my opinion. I own both, use both, so that has an impact on my opinion.

    SeV out.

    CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

    lol

I know I have, but I don't have a way to prove it...Whenever I'm out, if it was ever that cold I usually always used my ESEE 5 because it was thickets..I always warm up my blades under my jacket for a while because the steel will become brittle if is super cold. It's a fact. I even do that with my axes.

I have some pictures of my BUSSE knives being used in -42c

    Let me find them.

I was left with the same feeling LOL

    Here we go.

Bushy says he has not ever seen an ESEE Junglas used in -20.

It's colder than -20 here...and I beat on my Junglas for a bit.

First, I put the Junglas outside for 3 hours while i worked on the the combat shovel prototype bushy and I are building. By this time, the knife is cold. Really cold.

Without warming the blade at all, I chopped up a 10 foot piece of birch into several pieces.

    IMG_2368.JPG

Time to get things done. Wham bam!

    IMG_2369.JPG

First piece. Cut through it like piss all.

    IMG_2370.JPG

    Piece number two.

    IMG_2371.JPG

    All of it...

    IMG_2372.JPG

    IMG_2373.JPG

No edge damage. I hammered this thing..I swung so hard, that if it broke, I wouldn't be surprised...It didn't break.

Time to baton through a few pieced of big pine. This knife is not meant for this at all...but if this knife is going to be sold in Canada, it has to do this, and do it well.

    IMG_2374.JPG

No problem at all. Saw it get bent a few times, but always returned to zero.

    IMG_2376.JPG

    IMG_2377.JPG

    More to come.

I processed more wood. Hammering the junglas with a frozen birch log.

    IMG_2378.JPG

Naturally, without any damage, the Junglas prevailed.

    IMG_2381.JPG

    IMG_2382.JPG

Time to light a fire. @Bushman5 sent me some fire starter to try...this sh*t was like dried napalm! I lit up a few cotton balls and cut open my napalm pak, BLAM. Instant fire. this stuff burns hot...REAL HOT. I didn't even put small pieces of wood on it...I just piled on the big sticks and away it went.

    IMG_2383.JPG

    IMG_2384.JPG

After all the work my Junglas did, I could still produce a decent featherstick.

    IMG_2386.JPG

At this point, my phone died and wouldnt turn on because it was too cold.. More pics coming, but I have to upload from my Rebel T3i.

    LET THERE BE FIRE.

At this time, this young lad came outside to play. A lesson was to be learned.

I taught him how to build a quinzee.

    IMG_2396.JPG

Snow storm from BC was rolling in.

    IMG_2397.JPG

I gave Logan my headlamp so he could see.

    IMG_2399.JPG

It was taking shape. He did a good job for being 9 years old. he also did this in sub -22C weather...
