I got a fire going. Kept it simple. Long hike in.

    IMG_2197.JPG

I planned on making bannock, so I needed a stick to bake it on.

    IMG_2198.JPG

Took the paint off of the spine of my J2 doing this. LOL

    IMG_2199.JPG

Calories for my weary bones. Beans, Peppered Salami, bannock and a few other goodies.

    IMG_2202.JPG

Took care of the beans with my Leatherman Surge,

    IMG_2203.JPG

Then I promptly poured them into my Heavy Cover cup...Love my heavy cover gear...Very expensive. I think its worth the money? meh.

    IMG_2205.JPG

    IMG_2206.JPG

Time to make Bannock. I mixed fresh water in with my ingredients.

    IMG_2207.JPG

This is going to be good.

    IMG_2208.JPG

Once I had water in my ingredients, I mixed everything together.

    Bannock ready to go!

    IMG_2224.JPG

I wrapped the bannock around the stick I made, Then propped it up with some firewood. This was very effective.

    IMG_2227.JPG

I love this thing. It's nearly my favorite....

    IMG_2228.JPG

My fire is producing some nice, hot coals. Perfect for cooking!

    IMG_2229.JPG

My all time favorite. The ESEE 5.

    IMG_2230.JPG

Hell yes! This knife begs to split wood. The pine in the area split readily, as always.

    Knife Pron.

    Bannock is coming along nicely.

I only use dead standing black spruce, and if its dead and dry it burns like dry/dead pine does.

    Note** I love Bush's beans,

I'm loving this thread, being from such a hotbox humid hellhole like south Louisiana it's awesome to see how it's done in the far north! You and @Bushman5 are giving me some inspiration to start an adventure thread when I start getting out again once the baby's a little bit older.

And you're single handedly selling me on the J2! It's seeming like what I had wished my old 6 would be after some use.

That's awesome to hear man. You should start your own adventure thread! Show us how its done in the south! I'm glad I'm selling you on the Junglas II. It really is one of my all time favorite knives. Its a capable chopper with practical traits and attributes. it carves, it chops, it whittles and batons. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah...it's balanced extremely well..

Here is the along waited, dirty old warhorse ESEE 5.

I have never seen an ESEE5 more worked over than this one.

It was used to cut, pry, chip, stab, slice, baton and cut everything.

    Belonged to a construction worker.

I have personally held this knife. It looks like it was sharpened with a file? Either way, it has had a hard life, and it still wants more. If I ever get my hands on it I am going to bring it back to life and run it...Hard.

Photos are courtesy of the awesome team at Supply Sergeant here in Edmonton, Alberta.
